Individuals

I am a gentle and warm experienced psychotherapist. In my work with individuals, I help adults of all ages. Our sessions together will provide you a safe, compassionate, and non-shaming space to explore the difficulties and challenges that you face. We will work to help you better understand yourself and to be able to build connections with others. I primarily draw upon the transformative evidence-based Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS), that has been demonstrated to assist individuals in gaining self-insight, helping them to live with confidence, guided by curiosity and compassion. I also draw upon mindfulness/self-compassion, somatic therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavior neuroscience, and psychodynamic therapy in sessions with individuals.

Many of our emotional difficulties and the ways we deal with our daily struggles actually have their origins in automatic responses that we developed many years ago. In a valiant attempt to protect ourselves from pain and distress, we use coping methods that helped us when we were very young, but are no longer best for us as we mature. In our therapy sessions together, we will collaborate so that you feel safe to become curious about understanding how you originally developed those coping methods and the long-ago painful memories that they still try to protect you from today. By helping you to have compassion toward yourself, our goal will be to improve your relationship with yourself which will, in turn, provide you with the courage to create compassionate, strong, and lasting connections with others. We will help you develop increased confidence and clarity in life choices, and free you to become the genuinely calm and creative individual that you can be.
