Psychotherapy can help

We often find ourselves facing difficult life challenges and feeling stuck.  In fact, we all face these challenges at some point.  Many of us have known for years that we aren’t happy with our lives but are uncertain over what changes to make.  At times we may feel there is no hope – that things can’t ever get better.  But I know that they can get better; people can heal and grow. I have seen it happen many times in my practice. I can help you become unstuck, to have the courage and confidence to change how you respond to those challenges, and to become the person you are truly meant to be.  We will work together so you restore faith in yourself, which will free you to live a happier and more fulfilling life, and be able to enjoy richer and deeper relationships.

My Practice

I am a gentle, well-attuned, intuitive, compassionate and caring psychotherapist, and I bring warmth and understanding to my clients.  I work with adults of all ages, both individuals and couples.  During our sessions together, I will provide you with a supportive and safe environment where you are fully accepted and understood as we together help you address life’s challenges and achieve your goals.  In my practice, I primarily draw upon the transformative evidence-based “Internal Family Systems” (IFS) model with individuals and IFS-based “Intimacy From the Inside Out” (IFIO) with couples.

IFS and IFIO are uniquely effective in offering a genuine healing, with a compassionate and non-judgmental acceptance of who you truly are.  Both IFS and IFIO recognize that we are all made up of various individual “parts” that affect how we perceive the world around us.  Sometimes, these parts are hurt along the way, which then affects how we act and react in our daily lives.  However, we also each have a calm, curious, and courageous core “self” that is inherently able to offer the leadership that our entire system needs.  Using IFS and IFIO, you will find your own inner resources and work to heal those wounded “parts” within you.

In my practice I also use other evidence based psychotherapy modalities: mindfulness/self-compassion, somatic therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral neuroscience, and psychodynamic therapy.  On the whole, my overall approach recognizes the strong links among our mental, physical, and spiritual health.  I offer telehealth sessions via a safe and secure platform to clients in Maryland and Washington, DC, and invite you to contact me.  I can help.
